Cleansing to maintain health according to Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, the best season to cleanse the body and mind is spring. But autumn is also ideal for freeing yourself from toxins and toxins. One of the best-known fasting cures in Ayurveda is the Panchakarma cure, which takes place over several days under medical supervision and enables the most intensive form of fasting. It is detoxified on a physical and mental level and toxins are eliminated. This type of cleaning is particularly recommended for severe and chronic illnesses.

However, in Ayurveda there are also gentler detox treatments, some of which can be done on your own responsibility or accompanied by Ayurveda experts. A simple way to achieve more vitality, prana (life energy) and well-being is to incorporate daily detox routines. This supports the detoxification processes in the body.

Daily detox tips

  • A daily fasting window of approx. 12 - 14 hours supports the regeneration of your cells and stimulates the digestive and metabolic processes.

  • A time window of at least 13 hours should be maintained overnight by not consuming any food. This allows the detoxification process of the body and organs to take place optimally.

  • A restful sleep of between seven and nine hours allows your body to detoxify efficiently.

  • Before you eat or drink anything, the mouth is cleansed and freed from bacteria and toxins using oil pulling (1 teaspoon of coconut oil or sesame oil) and tongue scraping.

  • Nasya is a nose cleanser or protection that helps protect you from bacteria and viruses. This nourishes your nasal mucosa. 2 drops of sesame oil are placed in each nostril daily.

  • Only then do we drink warm lemon or ginger water, which stimulates our metabolism and digestion.

  • Well-functioning digestion is essential to rid yourself of toxins and waste products. Regular healthy, cooked meals, adding ghee to your food and taking breaks between meals promote your digestive power.

  • Make sure you eat a diet that balances blood sugar so that you don't overload your liver. You can find more information about this in the blood sugar balance book .

  • Spices such as ginger, pepper, trikatu, coriander, cumin, fennel, hing, fenugreek and turmeric support your digestion.

  • Drink enough warm water and herbal teas between meals to support your detoxification.

  • According to Ayurveda, it is important to detoxify our mind too. After 8 p.m. I recommend avoiding computer work, cell phone surfing and blue light so that your body and mind can switch to relaxation mode. Then nothing stands in the way of a restful and detoxifying sleep.
